SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. –
New details have emerged in a downtown Saratoga Springs accident over the weekend
that seriously injured a member of the U.S. Navy.
According to police, early
Saturday morning officers were called to Broadway and Lake Avenue in city and
found an unresponsive man and a stopped taxi cab nearby.
Citing witnesses,
authorities now say that man, 23-year old Nilantonio Eschevarria-Diaz ran into
the side of the moving taxi, hitting his head on the windshield, and landing on the ground.
He was airlifted to Albany
Medical Center where police say his condition is greatly improving Monday.
Alcohol is believed to be
a factor in why Echevarria-Diaz ran into the road.
