ALBANY, N.Y. -- A new company will is bringing land and water tours back to Albany.
Community leaders are thrilled, saying it helps define our area as a destination spot for tourists, which can be key for economic development.
On Friday, the former president of the Albany Aqua Ducks, Bob Wolfgang, announced a partnership with Harmony House marketplace and Condon Communications to expand on what was there before.
"Looking at each region of the state, looking at it agriculturally, industry wise, historically, culturally and blending those things. And when you go on a tour it's going to be fun it's going to be social you're going to get off that bus and ask when's the next one?" said Diane Conroy-Lacivita of Harmony House Marketplace.
Called Harmony House Tours, the motto is to "Explore your backyard and beyond."
Starting off with group charters, from sweets tours to progressive dining to history and more, they'll eventually expand into public tours - not just hitting the Capital Region but all of New York State.
"We have a great story to tell and it's not just the city of Albany, it's this whole region," said Mayor Jennings.
Harmony house tours also hopes to venture into a partnership with colleges.
And if you miss the land and water tours offered by the Albany aqua ducks - the new tour company will partner with Dutch Apple Cruises to make that an option by spring.
The company says they'd like to have historic Albany tours on a regular basis by then as well. And they're also offering individuals and families the chance to create a tour of their own.
