ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Albany say a public littering offense led to a teenager being arrested on a more serious charge.
Officials say officers saw a man throw some litter
onto a sidewalk in the city on Wednesday evening. As officers approached
him to cite him for littering in a public place, the man fled and led
officers on a brief foot chase.
Authorities say during the chase, the man discarded a loaded .357-caliber handgun before being caught by the officers.
Police charged the 19-year-old Albany man with
criminal possession of a weapon and littering. He's being held in the
Albany County Jail.
