INDIAN LAKE, N.Y. - New York State Police say two people have died in a snowmobile collision in the town of Indian Lake Saturday.
Police responded around 7 p.m. to the scene on the lake approximately two miles south of the
Indian Lake Marina
located on Lake Shore
Road.
The investigation revealed that 59-year-old Thomas Dykstra, of Suffern NY, was
operating his 2009 Arctic Cat snowmobile on the frozen lake in a northerly
direction and entered the path of a second snowmobile, a 2002 Polaris, operated
by 51-year-old Paul Prill IV, of Schenectady, which was traveling in a
southerly direction causing a front-end collision to occur. Both men were ejected from
their respective snowmobiles.
Both victims were transported to Nathan
Littauer Hospital where the Hamilton County Coroner pronounced both men deceased. The cause of death was determined to be severe blunt force trauma for both men.
The cause of the accident is
under investigation. Alcohol is suspected as a contributing
factor.
