SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Two men have been arrested for allegedly damaging five sports fields when they drove their pick-up truck onto the fields at the Maple Avenue Middle School in Saratoga Springs.
Officials say they received a complaint from the school that the soccer, baseball and football fields had been damaged by a vehicle some time overnight Saturday. The investigation resulted in the arrest of 21-year-old Michael McConaha and 22-year-old Sean Fadgen, both of Saratoga Springs, for Criminal Mischief 3rd-degree, a felony, after admitting to the vandalism.
The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday.
"These senseless acts of vandalism cost the community money and disrupt the normal spring activities on these fields," said Superintendent Michael Piccirillo. "The district plans to prosecute the two suspects to the fullest extent of the law. We want to thank the Saratoga County Sheriff's Department for the quick response and follow-up and district employees who on their own time assisted with the investigation."
An estimate for the damage was not yet available.
