Barn fire in Kinderhook draws multiple fire crews, hazmat team

VALATIE, N.Y. – A firefighter is recovering after battling a large barn fire in the Village of Valatie on Sunday.

According to Columbia County officials, the fire broke out at a barn at 1202 Old Post Road around 9 a.m. Sunday morning. The scene was potentially dangerous due to burning fertilizer inside. A Hazmat team was called in for precaution.

One firefighter was injured and sent to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson with unknown injuries.

Kinderhook Fire Department is the primary agency at the fire, and they're receiving assistance from several surrounding agencies.
