ALBANY, N.Y. – A "Hoops for health" event will be held Saturday in Albany, hosting young basketball players ages 8 to 16 for a day of fun and health.
The event is hosted by the Boys and Girls club of Albany and the Healthy Capital District Initiative, in conjunction with the NYS Department of Health.
"We're excited to be working with the State Health Department and Healthy Capital District Initiative to host Hoops for Health," said Gilbert Maldonado of the Albany Boys and Girls Club. "This is a great opportunity for kids to enjoy friendly competition, while their parents receive information on Child Health Plus and Medicaid."
The event aims to reach eligible, yet uninsured children in the greater Albany area. Eligibility screening and on-site application assistance for NY's Medicaid and Child Health Plus public health insurance programs will be provided.
In order to apply, parents should bring proof of the child's identity, date of birth, citizenship, proof of NYS residency and proof of the family's income.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Albany at 21 Delaware Ave. in Albany.
