4,200 books collected as part of Project Cameron’s Story

Posted: Updated:

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. -- A local group that collects books to help families with babies in the neonatal intensive care unit nearly doubled its goal this year.

Project Cameron's Story was started by a Glens Falls family in memory of their premature son who died on October 20, 2009 after battling infection after infection.

The goal of Project Cameron's Story is to support the bonding of parents with their premature babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), through the use of children's literature and storytelling.

Every February the group collects new children's books for the NICU at Albany Medical Center, St. Peters and Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

This year the group was hoping to get 2,200, but after five days collecting at dozens of places around the capital region, they gathered nearly 4,200.
