LATHAM, N.Y. -- Major changes are coming to the Latham Circle Mall as demolition begins.
Construction crews are taking the first steps to make way for a new shopping center that will go up in place of the old mall.
Right now crews are working on taking apart electric work and disconnecting gas lines.
Sometime next week, the building itself will start coming down.
The mall, which was built in 1957, has deteriorated over the years.
New tenants have not been named for the shopping center that will be built, but it is expected to open in October of 2013.
