CDTA board approves new rail station parking rates

Posted: Updated:

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) Board of Directors has approved new parking rates to go into effect at the Rensselaer Rail Station and Saratoga Springs Train Station. The new rate structure will take effect on Monday April 1, 2013.

According to the CDTA, the new parking rates have been restructured to be in line with area facilities and will go toward the repair, maintenance and improvements to the station, garage and the parking lots.

One change from the original proposal was the inclusion of a 30-minute grace period to allow for customer pick-up and drop-off in the garage and surface lots. Customers will still be able to park on the deck in front of the station free of charge for up to two hours for easy access to the station.

The new Rensselaer Rail Station parking rates are as follows:

  • $12 garage
  • $8 lot a
  • $7 lot b
  • Parking will be free for the first 30 minutes in the garage and surface lots for passengers to drop off and pick up and then $2 for every hour of parking afterward until the daily maximum is reached.
  • Free 2 hour parking on Rail Station Platform deck will remain the same
  • Weekly Rates: Garage - $50, Lot A - $35 & Lot B - $30

A pilot program for $5.00 special event parking was instituted in fall 2012 at the Saratoga Springs Train Station which will become permanent on April 1, 2013.
