GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – A 57-year-old Glens Falls man is under arrest after falsely reporting an armed robbery.
According to the Warren County Sheriff's Office, Phillip J. Duckett of 28 Cooper Street unit 10, Glens Falls, NY was operating a taxi cab for a local cab company and reported a robbery at knife-point.
Duckett told investigators that he was driving a male passenger to Lake George and as they approached Exit 19, the passenger demanded that he pull over on the exit ramp and then stated that he had a knife and he wanted Duckett's money. Duckett reported that he gave the individual approximately $100in accumulated fare monies before the suspect left on foot in a westerly direction.
He later admitted that the incident did not occur, and that he had fabricated the story because he had given the money that he had reported stolen to an acquaintance.
On Saturday
Duckett was arrested for the misdemeanors of Falsely Reporting an Incident and
Providing a False Sworn Written Statement.
Duckett
was given an appearance ticket and he is scheduled to appear in Queensbury Town
Court in March 2013.
