Schenectady police investigating child’s death

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The Schenectady Police Department is currently investigating the death of an 8-year old at a home on Mynderse St.  

The child, whose identity will not be released, was found unresponsive by family members Saturday morning at approximately 10:07 a.m.  The child was treated on scene by member of the Schenectady Fire Department and transported to Ellis Hospital where he was pronounced a short time later.

The residence is being held as a crime scene until a cause of death can be determined.  An autopsy will be conducted tomorrow. 

The incident is being investigated by members of the Youth Aid Bureau and the Evidence Collection Unit.

There are no further details from the police at this time, but NEWS10 will continue to update as details are released by officials.
