ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A state lawmaker wants a
road in Woodstock named to honor the late drummer Levon Helm, a leader
of The Band when it played at the legendary 1969 concert nearby.
Assemblyman Kevin Cahill says he's introduced
legislation to name a stretch of State Route 375 as "Levon Helm Memorial
Boulevard." The designation would be for the road from State Route 28
in West Hurley to State Route 212 in Woodstock.
Helm lived in Woodstock and held concerts known as
"Midnight Rambles" at his home and studio that attracted many of the
world's top musicians.
He died of cancer last year at age 71.
