COHOES, N.Y. - The City of Cohoes has received a grant from the New York State Department of State to create a preliminary design for a City Waterfront Park.
The 1.9 acre parcel is located on Delaware Avenue across from the Van Schaick Mansion, on the site of the former Shanahan warehouse. The goal will be to purchase the property and remove the existing building and create a recreational spot with access to the Hudson River.
The other purpose would be to open the view shed from the front lawn of the Historic Van Schaick Mansion and restore the view of the River.
A public meeting will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Van Schaick Country Club. The city's consultant, Bergmann Associates, will be presenting some very preliminary plans and asking for public input for the project.
