SCOHARIE, N.Y. – The Schoharie Board of Education hosts a forum Tuesday on the fiscal challenges facing local schools.
The first of two forums, participants will discuss how to address a projected $986,720 gap for the 2013-14 school budget.
"We're facing sizeable budget challenges this year. We can no longer ‘trim around the edges' to preserve programs," said Superintendent of Schools Brian Sherman. "We need to know what programs our community believes are essential to maintain. We received excellent feedback last year, especially revolving round our unique agricultural offerings, and the sciences."
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Schoharie high School cafeteria at 136 Academy Dr.
A second forum on different topics will be held on March 19.
