EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. – Eight Tech Valley High School students will travel to Comier, Haiti Tuesday on an earthquake recovery mission.
The students and their science teacher, Leah Penniman, will spend a week in the country to work on a reforestation project that includes planting 500 mango trees purchased by the students using $5,000 in funds they raised.
"I am looking forward to making change in the village of Comier, and to seeing the smiles on their faces from the change that we helped make. Overall I just want to enjoy the amazing opportunity that we get and the feeling that we made a difference in people's lives," said student Benjamin Johnson.
