NEW SCOTLAND, N.Y. – A crash on Route 85A at Martin Road in the Town of New Scotland has injured four and shut down the road as sheriff officers investigate.
According to the New Salem Fire Chief, a sedan with three adult occupants collided head on with a van, occupied only by the adult driver. All four were injured, but they were conscious when rescuers arrived, and have been transported to area hosiptals.
Firefighters had to cut off the roof of the sedan to get the three occupants out.
Route 85A is closed in both directions from Altamont Road; NY 156 to New Scotland Road; NY 85 until 4:00 p.m.
The cause of the crash is unclear at this time.
