ALBANY, N.Y. – The Town of Guilderland Emergency Services and the American Heart Association team up Saturday for a fundraiser and awareness event at Crossgates Mall.
Instructors will teach the public how to preform hands only CPR, providing a 2 minute video demonstration and allowing participants an opportunity to practice their skills on three CPR manikins.
The American Heart Association will be raising funds and providing educational materials to "build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, educating shoppers about warning signs of heart disease and stroke can help save one person's life."
Nearly 400,000 people suffer sudden cardiac arrest each year, and having CPR performed doubles or triples the chances of survival for victims.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the mall on the lower level by Lane Bryant.
