ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A former college student accused of fatally beating his girlfriend inside her upstate New York dorm room is due in court.
A motions hearing in Clayton Whittemore's case is set for Wednesday in state Supreme Court in Rochester.
It's expected that Whittemore's lawyers will challenge a police search of the 21-year-old and his car at a New York Thruway rest area hours after the killing, as well as Whittemore's arrest. The Observer-Dispatch of Utica reported that Whittemore's lawyers filed the motions in January.
A Monroe County Sheriff's report released in October says Whittemore told authorities he snapped and killed 18-year-old Alexandra Kogut while arguing with her at the State University of New York College at Brockport Sept. 29.
Whittemore, a Utica College student, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
