TROY, N.Y. -- It's been little more than a week since 21-year old Takim Smith was fatally stabbed multiple times at a Troy apartment, and investigators have spent days combing through the crime scene gathering evidence.
It was that detective work that led officers to arrest six suspects, four of which have been charged with 2nd-Degree Murder, and two others with luring Smith to that apartment.
Police say the motive was money, and that those involved were using a promise of sex to get Smith there.
Troy Police Chief John Tedesco tells NEWS10 an item from the murder scene was turned in and is now being tested to determine if it has any bearing in the case.
Tedesco says investigators are searching of the crime scene to see if the claim is valid. He also said police are aware of some items that went missing from the scene.
Tedesco says more information will be available Wednesday.
