ALBANY, N.Y. -- Capital Region lawmakers are asking the state to help out financially strapped Albany.
Senator Neil Breslin along with assembly members Pat Fahy and John McDonald are asking the state to pay Albany $11 million in lieu of taxes for the state office campus.
They say the state owns about 60 percent of Albany's land -- and that's becoming too much of a burden on city taxpayers.
Under the bill before the legislature, the state would pay the city $11 million dollars each year to cover the tax-free land.
