DANSVILLE, N.Y. – A Dansville
police officer was injured after he attempted to separate a violent juvenile from
his victim.
On Sunday at 2:15 a.m. the
New York State Police, Dansville Police Department and Livingston County
Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a call about an out of control 15-year old in
a vehicle parked at the truck stop off Exit 5 on Interstate 390 in Dansville,
NY.
When police arrived, they
observed a male juvenile biting and striking a female, later determined to be
his aunt.
During an attempt to remove
the suspect from the vehicle, a Dansville Police Officer was punched in the
head and suffered a concussion.
The 15-year old was
eventually removed from the vehicle and transported to Noyes Hospital by
Dansville Ambulance for evaluation. The Aunt was also taken to Noyes Hospital
for treatment.
It was determined the suspect
had taken bath salts which was the cause of the violent behavior. The officer
was treated at Highland Hospital and released.
The investigation is
continuing and charges are pending.
