SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Police are investigating a shooting in Schenectady Friday afternoon.
Schenectady Police responded to a report of a stabbing at 5 Madison St. at around 3:21 p.m. and quickly determined that one city resident had been shot in the torso.
The victim was treated on scene by members of the Schenectady Fire Department and was transported to Albany Med. The victim is currently listed in "critical condition," and their identity is not being released at this time.
The shooting took place inside Apartment #6, and there was an infant inside the residence at the time of the incident. The child was not hurt and was taken into protective custody by Schenectady County Child Protective Services.
The relationship between the victim and the infant is not known at this time. The relationship between the suspect and the victim is also unknown at this time.
