ALBANY, N.Y. – An Albany man has been convicted in the sex assault and kidnapping of his wife in 2012.
Yaqoob Chauhan, 47, was found guilty after a jury trial of two Counts of Predatory Sexual Assault, both Class A-II Felonies, one Count of Kidnapping in the 1st-Degree, a Class A-I Felony, and five Counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, all Class A Misdemeanors.
According to police, Chauhan, who moved to the Albany from Pakistan, skipped town and headed to Maryland where he was picked up two weeks later by U.S. Marshalls in Baltimore.
He was indicted in May 2012 on a felony charge of predatory sex act which carries a sentence of 25-years-to-life.
