PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- As snow continues to fall, the city of Pittsfield has begun to prepare for the storm, salting the roads and coordinating resources.
A snow emergency is in place beginning at 6 p.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Sunday. The city asks that vehicles do not park on streets that need to be plowed by the city.
Residents stocked up on shovels and snow blowers at Carr Hardware and they will need that equipment, city residents must have their sidewalks clear of snow within 24 hours of the storms end.
"So if we can have people stay off the street and stay in their homes we'll be able to do our job clean up the city and keep folks safe," said Mayor Dan Bianchi.
Pittsfield is expected to see anywhere from a foot or more of snow into Friday night.
