Mobil robbery suspect caught when car runs out of gas
SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y. - The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office responded to the Mobil Mart, at 166 Main Street in the Village of Schaghticoke, for a report of a burglary on Thursday.
Officers say over 200 packs of various brand cigarettes, lottery tickets, and approximately $200 in cash were reported stolen.
Two suspects attempted to disable the surveillance equipment, however they were unsuccessful and were captured on tape committing the burglary.
One suspect, 28-year-old Alan Dumouchel of Waterford, was located in his vehicle which had run out of gas on Route 2 in Petersburg near the Massachusetts border when New York State Police received a call for a disabled vehicle in traffic. The Sheriff's Office says Dumouchel was an employee of the Mobil he's suspected of burglarizing.
Dumouchel was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd-degree and Grand Larceny 4th-degree.
The second suspect is still at large and has fled to Vermont. Anyone with information regarding the burglary are asked to call Sergeant Shane J. Holcomb at 518-266-1981
