A Pet Connection Special on the Ohio Dog Rescue: A sad but heartwarming story of survival.

"'Free to be Me,' an Anatomy of a Dog Rescue" will air Wednesday and Thursday night on FOX23 News at 10 p.m. and NEWS10 at 11 p.m.

Wednesday: Part 1 - Watch Steve Cap's journey to western Ohio for the dog rescue and getting ten beautiful dogs back to the Capital Region where they will undergo their rehabilitation and learn what it is to be loved.

Thursday: Part 2 - Steve Cap will show you the happy ending as one of the rescued dogs finds that loving home.

For more information on the dogs and how to fill out an application and adopt, visit the Companion Animal Placement Program (CAPP), at http://www.capp-petplacement.org/ .

You can also visit some of the dogs at The Healthy Pet Center on Delaware Avenue in Delmar, where they have been living and learning how it is to be a dog.

Photos: "Elida" before and after. They had to soak her feet in warm water to loosen up the matts and to finally get at her feet. She is so much better today. She is sweet, friendly and ready to go home.

You will meet "Stella" (the dog in the back) and will see how she is doing today. Only four weeks ago it was a hard time getting her out of the cage. She was so scared and confused. She has come a long way in a short amount of time.
