Brighter Choice Charter schools hold fundraiser

Posted: Updated:

ALBANY, N.Y. -- A local charter school came together to honor the memory of Abdulaziz Fadul, a young scholar who lost his battle with brain cancer back in 2009.

Monday, friends and families from the Brighter Choice Charter schools held a benefit dinner to help the fight against brain cancer.

All of the money is donated to the children's hospital to help children like Abdulaziz, but the principal of the Brighter Choice School for boys says that's not all this dinner is about.

"We use this as a time to celebrate the 100 days of school, to remember abdulaziz and to celebrate the great work that the children's hospital at Albany Med does as well,' said Principal Darryl Williams.

Williams says they were able to raise $3,500 during last year's fundraiser and they hope to exceed that number this time around.
