ALBANY, N.Y. - A 20-year-old Delmar man pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run that killed 53-year old Rozell Whitehead of Albany at the corner of Henry Johnson Boulevard and Third Street last year.

Ian Eckardt-Rigberg pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter 2nd-degree and one count of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting in Albany County Court Friday.

The accident happened on February 25, 2012 when Eckardt-Rigberg was speeding on I-90 in Albany, when he failed to stop his vehicle after being directed to do so by a marked police car.

He continued traveling at a high rate of speed and ran a red light while getting off of I-90 on Henry Johnson Blvd, striking Whitehead with his vehicle, causing his death. He then fled the scene without reporting the incident.

He was driving with restrictions on his license at the time.

He faces 3 1/3 to 10 years in State Prison in addition to a concurrent State Prison term of 2 to 6 years when sentenced on March 28
