MENANDS, N.Y. - The Super Bowl on Sunday means lots of empty bottles and cans, and the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society is asking you to donate them to help out the homeless animals at the shelter.
The MHHS says empty bottles and cans, including water bottles, can be dropped off at the Humane Society in Menands or at
any Goldstein Auto Group location.
Last year the "Empties for Animals" program generated
over $96,500 in revenue. Individual members of the community, school groups,
other organization and the Goldstein Auto Group dropped off more than
1,200,000 cans and bottles.
Volunteers sort all those bottles and cans based upon the originating
distributor which in turn generated 8 cents per can/bottle instead of the
regular 5 cents redemption fee paid at stores.
The Society is located at 3 Oakland Avenue in Menands, is open for adoptions seven
days a week, Monday through Friday from 10AM to 6PM, Saturday from 10AM to 5PM
and Sunday 1PM to 4PM. For more information, contact (518) 434-8128.
