ALBANY, N.Y. - Family and friends mourn the loss of 23-year-old Megan Cunningham, whose body was found in a fire on Arcadia Avenue in Albany on Sunday morning.
The cause of the fire that happened just after 5 a.m. Sunday at 12 Arcadia Avenue is
still unknown. Also unknown, is the exact cause of Cunningham's
death; the autopsy report ruled as "pending further study."
Cunningham's body was found on the second floor of the home while extinguishing the fire, according to Albany Fire Department officials. They say her body had been burned considerably by the time of discovery.
Cunningham's roommate, Desmond Biechman, says he too still has questions about what
happened to his friend. He recalled Wednesday how much Cunningham loved her pet
lizard "Puff," the sole survivor of the fire, he now takes care of.
Cunningham's
boss and co-workers at the Getty station on Western Avenue were saddened once
they found out why she didn't show up for work Monday. Her boss and owner of
VanVranken Enterprise, Sandy VanVranken, says she was a beautiful, outgoing young
lady with an uplifting spirit.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
