AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - The Amsterdam Police Department has arrested a 21-year-old for stabbing his mother's boyfriend in the leg during a domestic dispute.
Police say they were called to the home on Guy Park Avenue, near the intersection with Kimball Street, where they found an unresponsive male in the driver's seat of the vehicle.
Investigators found the victim had been stabbed in the leg while sitting in the vehicle during a dispute with his girlfriend's son, 21-year-old Jan Guerra-Santos, of Morris Street in Amsterdam. The victim was attempting to drive himself to the hospital but was unable to after losing a severe amount of blood.
The location of the initial altercation was John Street, and Guerra-Santos was found a short time later. The weapon police believed was used, a large kitchen knife, has not been found at this time.
Police say Guerra-Santos and the victim are not related and were arguing over family issues.
The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and is said to be in stable condition.
Guerra-Santos has been charged with felony Assault 2nd-degree.
