MINDEN, N.Y. – Three people are under arrest, charged with 52 counts of animal cruelty.
At the beginning of January, New York State Police seized more than 50 dogs from "Sickpuppyz Pitbull Kennels" on State Route 5-S in Montgomery County.
The search of the property came after multiple reports were made by neighbors complaining about a large number of dogs living in a large, cold barn.
When executing the resulting warrant, officials found the conditions to be uninhabitable for the canines located there.
Some of these conditions included:
- An unheated and element exposed structure
- Frozen water
- A deceased canine
- Many of the canines lying in fecal matter
Now, the three people who lived there -- Diane, Paul and Joseph Marriott -- are accused of abusing those 51 dogs.
The animals are now being cared for at area shelters.
Joseph Marriott is also accused of threatening an animal shelter employee and is charged with Aggravated Harassment.
