HALFMOON, N.Y. -- The roads are a real mess Monday, a result
of the wintery mix that's been falling all day.
Plows are making their way through, salting the roads and
clearing away much of the snow.
The State Department of Transportation told NEWS10 they
have more than 900 trucks out across the state -- about 150 in the Capital Region
alone.
"We try and deploy our trucks where we think there's
going to be weather conditions. Obviously, on a day like this we're having
conditions everywhere, so our trucks are everywhere. You'll see the yellow
trucks with the flying d on the side of them, treating our roads and keeping
everyone safe," said NYDOT spokesman Bryan Viggani.
That's in addition to the different municipalities that
have their own trucks out. Still, they can only do so much -- which is why drivers
should take it slow, and leave themselves plenty of space between vehicles.
