ALBANY, N.Y. – The Albany Gun Show begins Saturday, with over 400 exhibits and displays from collectors and dealers from all over the northeastern United States and Canada only a few weeks after state lawmakers adopted tighter regulations
on some semi-automatic rifles and banned high-capacity magazines.
The show, held at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center for three decades faced some scrutiny following the shooting in Newtown and the state's new SAFE Act, but the show will go on as planned this weekend.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said Friday that the newly-enacted "Model Gun Show Procedures" will be in place for this weekend's show at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center to make sure weapon sales are properly tracked and done safely.
A key provision is making sure all guns private sellers bring to the shows are tagged and then checked later to determine if they were sold and confirm a background check was done on the buyer.
The rules also limit the number of entrance doors to improve monitoring.
The show will feature displays and sales of the following:
U.S. military arms
High grade double barreled shotguns
Smith & Weston
Gun parts and accessories
Frontier and Western paraphernalia
Civilian and military weapons from all nations
Custom made and factory made knives
Military relics and equipment from before the Revolutionary War to the present
