KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo's budget proposal includes $2 million toward a recreational trail from a reservoir in the Catskill Park.
Ulster County Executive Mike Hein is praising Cuomo for helping fund a planned 38-mile rail trail from Kingston to the Ashokan Reservoir, which provides water for New York City.
Hein in October proposed a multi-use recreational trail along the county-owned Ulster & Delaware railroad line between Kingston and Highmount. The ultimate goal is to link that trail to the Walkway Over the Hudson, some 15 miles south in Highland.
The county is currently developing preliminary plans.
