One killed in Amsterdam roll-over accident

FONDA, N.Y. - The State Police out of Fonda say one person has died as the result of a one-car roll-over accident on Route 5 in the town of Amsterdam Wednesday morning.

Around 8:50 a.m., patrols responded to reports of an overturned vehicle in the field of the eastbound lane on Route 5. The driver, 35-year-old Lester Rivera Jr., of Amsterdam, was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

An autopsy is pending at St. Mary's Hospital and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
