CHARLTON, N.Y. - New York State Police have arrested a man on vehicular manslaughter charges following a two-car fatal accident in the town of Charlton on Sunday afternoon.
State Police at Saratoga say 24-year-old Marcus Young, of Granville, was traveling westbound on State Route 67 and crossed the center of the roadway and
into the eastbound lane striking an on-coming vehicle driven by 50-year-old Glenn Smith, of Amsterdam. The accident occurred at 4:55 p.m. on Sunday.
Smith was transported from the scene to Saratoga Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say Young was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd-degree,
Driving While Ability Impaired due to Drugs and various other vehicle and
traffic violations as a result of the crash.
Young was arraigned in the Town of
Charlton Court and remanded to the Saratoga County
Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bail bond.
