ALBANY, N.Y. - New York's annual memorial observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is taking place at the Empire State Plaza Monday.
In celebration of the 84th anniversary of Dr. King's birth, the public is welcome to attend the free celebration at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center beginning at 10 a.m. Monday.
The keynote address will be given by
Reverend Cordelia Wallace, Senior Associate Pastor and First Lady of Agape
Cathedral.
OGS Commissioner RoAnn Destito
will then present Tuskegee Airman Herbert C. Thorpe with the 2013 Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr. Humanitarian Award.
Following the formal program, the City
of Albany "Beloved Community March" will begin at approximately 11:45 a.m. at
the Plaza Concourse entrance on Madison Avenue. The march will conclude at the
King Monument in Lincoln Park with a wreath laying ceremony.
