DELMAR, N.Y. - Some people at one local barber shop took a little off the top today – for a good cause.
Gregory's Barber Shop in Delmar did "Haircuts for Cancer" today, to benefit the upcoming Coaches vs. Cancer High School basketball tournament.
For four hours today, people got a cut and, for some, a shave, for a twenty dollar donation to tournament, which funds cancer research.
For the shop's owner, the event hit close to home.
"My father-in-law, actually, is a pancreatic cancer survivor, who beat that 17 years ago. It's something that we definitely enjoy supporting every year and, hopefully, we can make a small difference," said Gregory Zorian.
The Coaches vs. Cancer tournament kicks off next week at Siena College.
Gregory's Barber Shop is located at 318 Delaware Avenue in Delmar.
