Collection of thefts from cars in Kinderhook

KINDERHOOK, N.Y. - Police are investigating numerous complaints of property being stolen from unlocked vehicles in the Valatie and Kinderhook areas overnight on Saturday.

The suspect(s) has or have been targeting neighborhoods that have many vehicles in close proximity, allowing for quick rummaging, according to State Police.

Police say typical stolen items include money, credit cards, checkbooks, laptop computers, clothing and other items of value.

Police are encouraging residents to ensure they lock their vehicles and store valuable items out of sight.

Community members are asked to also report any and all signs of suspicious activity to police, by calling 758-7010.
