ALBANY, N.Y. -- Senator Charles Schumer says a tax credit included in the fiscal cliff deal will continue to help middle-class families pay for college.
The senator visited The College of Saint Rose Thursday, to announce the credit will provide up to $2500 dollars to families for the next five years.
He says this really makes a difference for most of the families here in the Capital Region.
"It allows every family that makes below 200 thousand a year to take a full tax credit of $2,500 for each year of college off their taxes to help defer the cost of tuition," said Schumer.
The senator says this credit has saved local families thousands since 2009.
