TROY, N.Y. -- The snow started falling in Frear Park in Troy around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday. As of noon, there was around 3 inches of snow on the ground.
Now this is a wetter snow because the temperature is around the freezing mark, and that's good news for a lot of the area roadways. You can see right now most of the roadways are just wet, though there are still a few slick spots out there on some of the secondary and tertiary roadways.
It's also good news for kids that have the day off because it's great sledding weather.
It seems to be a pastime for kids every time it snows and Wednesday was no exception. Hearing the crunch of the wet snow beneath everyone's boots meant the white stuff was of the perfect consistency for sledding on. Every hill in town seemed to be covered with kids having a blast, including the hill at Frear Park -- and it didn't seem to matter whether or not they stayed on the sled.
