ALBANY, N.Y. - Fire broke out at a three-story apartment building in Albany Tuesday night, where multiple rescues needed to be made.
Fire Chief Forezzi says the fire broke out at 101 Lexington Avenue around 7:30 p.m., with multiple apartments that wrap around to Central Avenue.
Authorities say when first responders arrived, several people were hanging out of the third story windows where heavy smoke was pouring out.
Two separate fire crews responded for the rescue of three adults and two children from the Lexington Avenue side of the apartment building.
Forezzi said one adult also needed to be rescued via ladder from the third floor of the Central Avenue side of the building.
All occupants of the apartment building did make it out, either on their own or were rescued, Forezzi says.
Those rescued were treated for possible smoke inhalation and minor injuries at Albany Medical Center. One firefighter sustained minor injury due to broken glass and was treated at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
