Albany City Hall set to reopen after plumbing woes

Posted:

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - They say you can't beat city hall. But it can be shut down by plumbing problems.

Albany City Hall is set to reopen Tuesday after being closed Monday when a flood of sewage 2 feet deep damaged the downtown building's furnace.

City officials say the sewer backup occurred in a basement furnace room, leaving the building without heat. Another issue arose when an old valve on a city water main broke while workers were trying to fix City Hall's plumbing and heating problem.

Officials say City Hall will open for normal business starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
