GREENVILLE, N.Y. - New York State Police in Catskill say they have arrested
a man in connection with the murder in Greenville earlier this month.
Police were called to check the welfare of the resident at 262 West Road in
the town on Tuesday, Jan. 1, when 40-year-old Scott Myer was found dead by
troopers.
Maurice L. Pratt, 30, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested by state police in
connection with the crime.
Authorities noted early in the investigation that there was obvious trauma to the body and that Myer was
obviously the victim of a homicide but would not say much else.
"We have a working knowledge of what occurred, however due to the
sensitivity of the investigation, we're not releasing that at this point,"
said Tripodo.
State police did confirm the body had been there for several days. Neighbors
said they had not seen him in a while.
"His driveway wasn't plowed, and I didn't see any footprints either.
And I figured they were on vacation," said Sonny Cleveland, who has been
neighbors with the victim for 12 years.
Authorities said Myer lived at his home alone, and neighbors we spoke with
said they knew very little about the victim.
"I didn't even know him. If he walked up to me now, I wouldn't even
know what he looked like," said Cleveland.
They say the investigation is continuing and State Police ask anyone with
information to contact 518-622-8600.
