WINDHAM, N.Y. -- Two local organizations are coming together this weekend to support wounded service men and women.
This weekend, the Adaptive Sports Foundation and Windham Mountain, along with the Wounded Warrior Foundation, will join forces to teach wounded servicemen and women how to ski and snowboard.
Harold Lee Young, an Iraq veteran, says learning how to ski allowed him some relief.
"Mostly it is a lot of release, a stress reliever. It is very calming, very relaxing. Makes you forget the things that happened in your life," said Young.
Officials say it is important to remind our wounded veterans that they can maintain a healthy lifestyle despite their injuries, and learning a new activity can give them a sense of hope.
