TROY, N.Y. – A search is underway in Troy for a suspect that robbed and stabbed a man after initially acting as if the two were acquainted.
According to Troy PD, the armed robbery occurred on Thursday evening in the area of 3rd Street and Congress Street.
The suspect approached the victim and acted as though they knew each other, but the victim is from downstate and told the assailant he did not know him. The suspect then began to fight with the victim and stabbed him in the buttocks.
The victim told police that he fought off the assailant, but was robbed of cash and other property. The assailant fled on foot.
The suspect is described as a disheveled looking black male in his 30's, wearing a light colored jacket.
The victim was treated by Troy Fire Dept. and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital for further treatment, but the wound appears to be minor.
