Additional parking options coming to downtown Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. -- You will soon have more options when it comes street parking in downtown Albany.
The Albany Parking Authority says it will install an additional 33 multi-space parking meters.
Instead of one space, one meter, drivers will be able to park their car on the street, head to a nearby meter and pay for the time they want.
The new solar powered meters will extend the current 2-hour parking limit to 10 hours.
"It will give people a lot more flexibility. First they'll be able to pay by credit or debit card. Second they'll be able to stay as long as they want so they can attend to their business without being concerned about a 2 hour limit," said Michael Klein of the Albany Parking Authority.
The new meters will be installed by the end of next week.
