NISKAYUNA, N.Y. - The Niskayuna Fire Department says the cause of the fire which killed a 14-year-old girl last week has been ruled as "undetermined."
The fire on Friday, January 4 took the life of 14-year-old Grace Kline at her home at 2241 Niskayuna Drive.
The Niskayuna Fire Chief says the fire has been determined to have started in the kitchen, but investigators could not determine a specific origin or cause of fire.
Neighbors called the fire department when they noticed smoke coming from the home. Kline, a student at Van Antwerp Middle School, was found unconscious inside a first-floor bedroom in the home and later died at Ellis Hospital.
Kline was alone in the home at the time of the fire, and according to officials, her father arrived on the scene shortly after emergency crews arrived.
The fire department says their investigation into the fire has concluded.
